How can God have always existed?

How has God always been here? If someone asked you ‘ Who created God?’, you would probably say ‘ No one did. He has always been there and always will’. The thing that I don’t understand is how is that possible?

“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am He.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me (Isaiah 43:10).

Well, in heaven which is where God is there is no time. God created time but just because He created time doesn't mean where He is (which is heaven), there is time.

So there is no time line, no time!

God bless.

  1. No time means God could not have caused the universe to exist, because a cause must precede its effect, and cause-effect relationships are temporal.

You really have no idea what you're doing, do you? Take this advice -- 7th grade or 8th grade Sunday School isn't a good place to pick up philosophy.

  2. No, don't think of God as someone who moves around like a person and thinks. God knows everything, about everything! Your thinking God as of the way a person would think, not the way God would think.

It is pretty typical that you would say what you said (in the second paragraph) since your an Atheist.

  3. God exists outside of our space-time universe. Therefore God is timeless (eternal), He had no beginning nor end.

What does that mean and how does it address my comment?

I'll answer for you. You probably don't have a clue, and it doesn't.

Can you define "God" prior to making declarations about it? Thanks.

**"Your thinking God as of the way a person would think, not the way God would think."

    And what are YOU doing?

Actually, whether I'm an atheist or not, I would say that encouraging someone to seek philosophy outside of 7th or 8th grade Sunday school is probably sound advice in most cases.

  6. Try reading the Bible first if you haven't read it all already. It will answer your questions, and if you have already try studying it. Some things are spoken metaphorically and to understand you need to read the context of a passage.
